Well at long last the footy season is here.
The team is nearly complete and ready to strut their stuff.
With four players still to arrive, we currently have 25 new signings to the club and more than 60 players registered.
Last weekend we held our training camp at the Daintree Muster Experience and I think all in attendance had a good time.
Many thanks to the volunteers, Rob Barnett, Norm Walker, John Cameron, Sam, Des and Karen, Jacko Snr, Caroline, Arnie, George Page, Robyn, Corey and Jim Buckley who came along and helped out.
Yes it was agreat turnout and it shows the depth of help at the club.
A special thanks to Gordon Pringle and his girls for being great hosts over the weekend.
This week we kick start the season with our jumper presentation night on Thursday at the clubrooms.
We will unfurl our new lightweight jumper with our major sponsors Rattle N Hum and Barrier Reef Tavern emblazoned over it.
It will include Rob and Normie's great $8.00 meal and then the players and volunteers will receive their outfits for the season.
The night will start after training at approximately 7pm.
I hope you can all attend the night as the new players will enjoy seeing the support that our club receives.
If any of our 200 club members have not received their packages for 2014 then this is a good time to pick them up.
Saturday we take on the much improved South Cairns Cutters at the 'Croc Pit'.
Reserves start at 3pm and with the seniors taking the field at 5pm.
I hope you can all come along and support the boys, particulary the new recruits who have heard all about our parochial crowd.
There are still a couple of players desperate for work so please get in touch with the club if you have a potential employment opportunity.
The Port Douglas Colts will be playing at the Croc Pit on Friday so try and get along to support our young champs.
Yes, AFL is back in Port so cancel your plans for the week and give us a big piece of your time over the next few days.
Regards,
Andy Smith
