Some of the Douglas region's best and brightest netballers travelled to Innisfail last Friday to participate in the under 12 Regional Netball Carnival. 

Players were promised a chance to be chosen for the Far North Peninsula team from the carnival.  

With a Douglas team featuring Charlotte Dowling, Hannah Durie, Koreena Minnicon, Jenna Kerswell, Georgia McCarthy, Michaelyn Parkes, Myah Lowenstein-Jones, Octavia Cobb, Logan Buzza and Jay Heidke, the girls looked competitive throughout their matches.

The team showed they were a force to be reckoned with, defeating the Tablelands 9 - 2 in their first match, following on with a second consecutive win against Tully, 7 goals to 4.  

Our next game was the toughest, going down to Mareeba 13 - 3 with strong defence keeping Mareeba from running away with it.  

Innisfail's team was a good match up for our girls, with the nail biting game ending in a draw.  

The last game for the day was against Cairns. 

It was fast and furious and, unfortunately, Cairns just scraped home 6 - 4, scoring the last two goals.

All of the girls played superbly. 

A huge congratulations to Hannah Durie who was chosen for the Peninsula team as a wing defence. 

Jenna Kerswell also made it as a shadow member of the team.  

This is a massive achievement and we wish them all the best in their games to come.

Michelle Teasdale did a sterling job as coach.
