The Under 14 Muddies travelled south and played Innisfail Storms for the first half of a two-dayer at Chappa Chappa Park, South Johnston on Saturday. 

With everywhere Cairns and north drenched by rain the teams were lucky to get in their match at Innisfail.  

Muddies player Brayden Wall won the toss and selected to bat first.  Muddies openers were Curtis White and Levi Trewick who batted well for four overs until until Curtis was bowled on two runs.

Next batsmen Keel Sorensen came to the crease and Levi and Keel put on a good partnership  until Keel  was caught on the 18th over and was out for 11 runs.

Reuben Allison was the next batsmen and he and Levi continued to make until Levi had to retire on 49 not out after facing 50 balls.

Tex McDowall joined Reuben and they  batted together  until Reuben was caught for 16 runs in the 25 over. 

Ryan Doble was in next and he and Tex continued making runs until Tex was out with LBW for 1 run after the 28 over.

Rex Hawkes was next to bat and was unfortunate to be bowled  for a first ball duck.

Finn Stanaway batted next until Ryan was out for 3 runs.  Ninth batsmen Brayden  Wall went in to bat but was unfortunate to be bowled out for a duck after the 30th over.

Daniel Davidson was next batsmen and he and Finn batted out the last 2 overs with Muddies finishing their 32 over first innings on 7/125.

It was time for Innisfail to bat and Muddies opening bowlers  Curtis and Daniel bowled tight with Daniel making a run out in the third over assisted by wicketkeeper Nathan.  

Ryan and Rex bowled first drop with Ryan taking a wicket in each of his two overs whilst Rex bowled two maidens from his 3 overs. 

Finn and Levi both took a wicket each with Innisfail at 5/37 at drinks. 

Tex and Brayden bowled with great improvement keeping the batting runs low as did Reuben bowling a maiden. 

Keel and Nathan were unlucky to take a wicket but bowled tight. 

Levi and Brayden chimed in at the end to take a wicket each followed by a run out by Keel and Ryan kept Innisfail's score at 8/65 at the end of their first innings. 

Coach Lee said the boys bowled and fielded the best they have all season.    

Innisfail will travel to Port Douglas next Saturday to play the second half of the match and with 60 runs ahead Muddies will be aiming at keeping their 3 wickets in hand to bat through another 32 overs to create a win against the southern team.
