Port Douglas may be on the cusp of the traditional low season, but popular local event K-Star Trivia shows no signs of slowing down.

Locals and visitors alike continue to test their mental mettle at Kevin 'K-Star' Eldridge's weekly pub trivia nights, on Tuesday's at Paddy's Irish Pub and Wednesday's more family-friendly version at the Central Hotel. And now the quizmaster is even more in demand, with QT Resort Port Douglas re-joining K-Star's braniac bandwagon after a high season hiatus. 

A testament to the region's revitalisation and optimistic outlook for the months ahead, QT's PR and Events Coordinator, Emily Byrne, said the resort is "thrilled to welcome K-Star back this season for our locals trivia night at Estilo. We can’t wait to test our know-how and know-who every fortnight!"

"Again, we’ll be offering $10 pizzas alongside our fabulous cocktail menu, and we also want to encourage our trivia teams to dress to impress – this isn’t your average pub trivia and best dressed teams will be duly rewarded each week!

"The countdown to December 5th is on – make sure you bring your A-game!" Ms Byrne said.

K-Star's return to QT comes as Paddy's announced an upcoming inaugural Christmas Bonanza Mega-Trivia night. 

"It promises to be a great craic altogether!" said Paddy's Manager Liam Hudson.

As well, the Central Hotel has renewed its committment to monthly K-Star Charity Trivia nights for 2014.

"The Central is proud to be able to continue to help a variety of local grass roots volunteer organisations and charities and thanks all those trivia players who have attended." said Manager Helen Colvin.

K-Star started hosting trivia at Central two years ago, though 2013 was the first for monthly charity editions. Nine charities have benefited so far this year, including animal rescue shelter Paws and Claws, Womens and Street Children's Home (WASH) in Nepal, and marine health initiative Tangaroa Blue. Proceeds from the December 11 version will go to The Clink Theatre.

"With the help of the regular $500 cash donations from the pub, the charity groups have managed to raise close to $12,000," said K-Star.
