The Newsport provided the following election updates on polling day, November 9, and Sunday, November 10.

 

Nov 10, 6.00pm - 'And then there were four'

Results after 79.35 per cent of the vote (apparent voting percentage this year) have put David Carey, Terry Melchert, Abigail Noli and Bruce Clarke into power as the Councillors in the Douglas Shire Council. Confirmation of these results, interviews with the newly elected and a full wrap of the weekend's events this week on The Newsport.

 

Nov 10, 1.50pm - '56% of Councillor vote counted'

1.50pm  56.76 per cent of the total electoral roll has been counted. Based on the Mayoral results, 79.25 per cent of the electoral roll voted at this election. This means there is still approx 1500 votes to count plus postal votes of 98. The information not to hand is whether the pre-poll yet to be counted is Port Douglas or Mossman.

 

Nov 10, 9.05am - 'Councillor decision hangs in the balance'

9.05am With the counting of votes to resume at 9.30am this morning, Douglas Councillor Candidates will be eagerly refreshing the Queensland Electoral Commission results page. It is expected that only Port Douglas and Mossman booths are still to be finalised. This and the pre-poll votes, which were only taken in Port Douglas and Mossman, leaves these two area to decide the outcome.

 

Nov 9, 10.10pm - L'eu wins Mayoral race with 58.14%'

10.10pm Julia Leu has become the first Mayor of the reaffirmed 2013 Douglas Shire Council.

 

Nov 9, 10.05pm - Councillors still to fight it out

10.05pm With only 39.99 per cent of the vote counted, Councillor candidates are left hanging.
