New app to help with disaster prep

A new mobile app, Ready, Set, Go!, is set to help Queensland tourism operators prepare for a disaster event.

Created by the National Centre for Studies in Travel and Tourism and QTIC, the simple, interactive app is designed to get "tourism businesses ready to go prior, during, and straight after a crisis."

According to APEC figures, 80 per cent of businesses that experience a major crisis and do not have a continuity plan do not survive more than two years.

It will be released in mid to late-November this year in a series of free workshops directed at small businesses.

Contact  kelly.haussler@ec3global.com for more information on workshop dates and to register.

Meanwhile, Queensland Fire and Rescue has launched a digital campaign, 'Get Ready', to help Queenslanders prepare for the upcoming cyclone season.

Interested individuals can sign up at http://getready.qld.gov.au/ for a personalised, weekly online program.
