The Electoral Commission of Queensland reminds prospective candidates for mayoral and councillor positions that nominations for the November 9 election close this Thursday, October 17.

Action Electoral Commissioner, Walter van der Merwe, warns that the cut off is 12 noon.

"Nominations for the Douglas election close this Thursday at midday. The Commission cannot accept any applications past this time."

The draw for the order of candidate's names on the ballot paper will be conducted on Friday 18 October 2013, 10am at the Office of the Returning Officer.

Mr Van der Merwe also advises that individual candidates may appoint scrutineers.
