Kids aged 12 and under now have even more reason to consider participating in a Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival event, with free entry on the day for the Junior Challenge.

The Junior Challenge joins the Redkite Fundy 5000 (5km fun run) as the two GBRM Festival events with free entry for under-12s.

Event General Manager Bruno Bennett said the $25 entry fee was scrapped because the "Junior Challenge is primarily a participation event," and no one under 12 years old should feel unable to participate because of the cost. 

Registration for all Under-12s will be available on the day of the Marathon Festival, November 3.

A sausage sizzle and Fundy 5000 sign-up event is happening on Friday, October 11 at Coles Port Douglas. Coles also has a sign-up station for the Junior Challenge at the front of their local store, just inside the entrance doors.
