Tigers roar into Port for basketball clinic
Douglas Heat junior basketballers were treated to a special event last week as the Melbourne Tigers hosted a coaching clinic at Port Douglas.
Former North Melbourne Giants player and current Tigers junior development program coach, Glenn Bines, hosted a school holiday coaching clinic, ably assisted by his two sons, Jack and Patrick, who are junior stars in their own right.
Both Bines boys this year played in the Melbourne Tigers under-18 and under-16s teams respectively, were members of Caulfield Grammar’s first team and part of the winning Victorian Open Age Schools Championships. Both were also selected in the National Talent Identification Program for their age group.
Around 20 Douglas Heat players learned skills and fundamentals, and were later treated to a sausage sizzle and presented with a Melbourne Tigers t-shirt.
The club wishes to thank Glenn and the Melbourne Tigers for their time and generosity.
