Entsch retains Leichhardt
The LNP won yesterday's Federal Election, with Warren Entsch (LNP) retaining his seat in Leichhardt.
Mr Entsch won the seat back in 2010, after a short retirement from politics in 2007. In his upbeat concession speech, Kevin Rudd said he will not be re-contesting leadership of the Labor party. MP Bill Shorten is considered his likely replacement.
The national result currently stands as follows:
- LNP 81 seats (89 predicted)
- Labor 51 seats (52 predicted)
Leichhardt results (after 57 of 70 booths counted = 77.9%) as follows:
- Warren Entsch LNP 40,061 55.3% (+0.8%)
- Billy Gordon Labor 32,331 44.7%
There are still at least one million postal votes to be counted, which will start this week. Full details on Monday...
