DOGGY LOVE
A newly married Perth couple got more than they bargained for during their Port Douglas honeymoon.
The pair decided to visit the local Claws and Paws in Craiglie and it was there they came across “Eddie”, a dog that ended up stealing their hearts and becoming a permanent member of the household back in Western Australia.
After departing the Douglas Shire the pair knew they couldn’t leave “Eddie” at the shelter, so they sorted the logistics, flew Eddie to WA and well, the rest is history.

BEACH SHACK DELIGHTS
The exciting development that accomplished local restaurateur Vincenzo di Cugno acquired the Beach Shack was certainly met with loud applause across the Douglas Shire community.
Mr di Cugno’s told Newsport’s Jamie Jansen just months ago his strong connection to the community played a pivotal role in his decision to secure The Beach Shack.
“During my early days in Port Douglas I decided to dine at The Beach Shack with a few friends and I instantly fell in love with the place,” he recalled.
“At sunset with beautiful light coming across the park, it seems magic.
“I used to dream of owning it, but I never thought that buying it would become a reality. It's like they say, 'dreams do come true'.”
Mr di Cugno said in the future the Beach Shack will offer an enjoyable Italian dining experience with a focus on pizza, pasta, and yummy entrees.
“Our menu is inspired by the flavours of Italy and we’re thrilled to introduce our signature dish, the Salmon Carpaccio, which has been a beloved favourite at La Cucina," he said.
