I wish to write to you about Ironbark Road at Diwan, in the Daintree.

I am a commercial business owner and ratepayer of the Douglas Shire and I request Douglas Shire Council at least do a temporary fix as this year the road is now onto its red soil base, is (currently) a quagmire (following last December's heavy rainfall) and needs 4WD type access to enter my crossover.

Ironbark Road is taken out every rainy season and sometimes other times of the year. 

This is because the volume of water cascading down Ironbark and surging in from the timber farm adjoining my property overwhelms the two drainage channels crossing 50 metres upstream, so it breaches its bank at the timber farm road entry as it is blocked.

What needs to happen as per the plan I have submitted to you is to remove my road crossover and the next door crossover and install square concrete channels past my property entry and there will be no impediment to the flow down for it to exit out to sea. The installation of another culvert/pipe as per my drawing would also be helpful.
