CUT OFF AGAIN: Only road link to Douglas flooded
MAJOR RD CLOSURE
UPDATE 6PM, 12/1 Mount Molloy Road at Bushy Creek has opened to all vehicles again after being closed for several hours today due to water over the road.
A short time ago, the latest TMR camera shot showed that water across the road had receded, and the red 'no entry' closure icon on the QLD Traffic map has been taken off.

Some motorists have been diverting around Bushy Creek, Mt Molloy Rd, to avoid the flooded bridge - but other road users familiar with the area are advising that only 4wd vehicles “with clearance” should attempt it.
Google Maps shows Wetherby and McLean's Bridge roads as an alternative route around the Bushy Creek closure, but a social media user has commented that “you'd want a 4wd with clearance as it is unsealed and towards Mt Molloy end is quite muddy and slippery.”

It’s probably the last thing Douglas needs at the moment: to be again cut off by road.
Just as major repair and recovery efforts continue on the region’s major road links to the north and the south, heavy rain overnight and continuing falls today have cut off the only current road into Douglas – the Mount Molloy Rd – at Julatten.
On its QLD Traffic Map there’s an official closure symbol – a red no entry sign at Bushy Creek.
Rain easing hopes
According to the BoM’s weather station figures from Whyanbeel Valley, 178 mm fell in 24 hours to 9am today.
Motorists can only hope the Bushy Creek flooding will not be too long – with BoM forecasts saying the rain will not be as heavy in the next 24 hours, and weather radar showing a large rain pattern largely moving out to sea.
Douglas Shire Council had also advised of other road closures south of the Daintree River, including at Finlayvale, where Anich’s Bridge is well and truly underwater and in Mowbray at Palm Avenue, which Council says to “proceed with caution” due to a “hazard”.
