A ‘famous’ goat from New South Wales caused quite a stir in Port Douglas last week during an unconventional visit that led to its arrest.

The goat's owner, David Douglas, made the unique choice to bring his goat, Rogan (not to be confused with Rogan Josh, the Indian meat dish), along on a road trip from their hometown Mulwala in New South Wales to Port Douglas in the back of his ute.

While Mr Douglas enjoyed his stay at Mantra Heritage in Port Douglas, Rogan found a luxurious five-star spot in an empty patch of grass next to the building.

Enjoying his time in our paradise without a worry in the world, Rogan’s carefree adventure took an unexpected turn when local ranger Bill, mistaking him for a lost goat, made the decision to place him under ‘arrest’.

Fortunately, Rogan experienced a VIP treatment, enjoying a fully air-conditioned space and a private plot of land at the rear during his arrest. His blissful time came to an end when Mr Douglas discovered his goat's arrest through a Facebook post showcasing Rogan's misadventure.

Rogan has since returned to his New South Wales home, where he proudly reigns over his own island, named “Goat Island”, situated on Lake Mulwala, adjacent to Mr Douglas's property.

Initially acquired by Mr Douglas six months ago for a modest $50, Rogan was brought to the island to lend a helping hoof in keeping the grass trim.

Describing Rogan as a well-behaved but occasionally mischievous goat, Mr Douglas notes his penchant for nibbling on the Christmas tree.

Yet, Rogan is not merely a mischievous goat reigning over “Goat Island”. Leveraging Mr Douglas's advertising expertise, Rogan is on the brink of his inaugural foray into fame with an upcoming commercial.

Exciting plans are also underway for Rogan to take flight on a Qantas plane bound for Cairns as part of an upcoming PR stunt.

Stay tuned, as this goat is set to embark on some remarkable adventures.
