Police have reminded Douglas Shire drivers to be careful with the securing of their trailer loads after a car crashed into an embankment off Bonnie Doon road around 10am this morning.

A Douglas Shire resident who politely requested not to be named was travelling with a load of sandbags en route to help a mate in Mossman when the incident occurred.

Thankfully the man was unharmed in the accident, however his car suffered significant damage.

“The trailer load was too heavy in the back and it just skid out from me,” the man told Newsport journalist Lisa Keller at the scene just a short time ago.

The incident prompted the attending Police to remind locals to be cautious when securing their trailer loads and to drive carefully in wet conditions.
