A reckless act of extreme burnouts on Old Port Road, near the main road leading into Port Douglas, has left the area scarred with melted tire marks. It’s believed the man performed this senseless act last Saturday night before he abandoned his vehicle nearby.

The ute also carries P plates which is of major concern to Police. It’s understood the perpetrator had the vehicle removed on Sunday morning. Newsport however foiled that plan by having photographs of the vehicle and plates for Police to identify.

Top cop slams behaviour

“It’s a non sensical act and something we don’t want or need in our Shire, beside it’s people like that driving irresponsibly on our roads who kill people," Port Douglas Sgt in charge Damian Meadows told Newsport.

Police know his identity and will be questioning him over the matter. It will be alleged the young hoon was under the influence of alcohol when he performed his looney act.

"While this seems to be an isolated act it’s not something that we want to see happening on a regular basis in our tourist town," Sgt Meadows said. hear! hear!
