PROMISING FUTURE: Community gem ‘Coral Bar and Bistro’ seeks new visionary

Since opening its doors in May this year, the Coral Bar and Bistro, part of the renovated Coral Beach Lodge, has become a cherished local gem. Yet, a new chapter is on the horizon as owners Thomas and Kylie Cowlard have decided to lease the thriving establishment to a passionate individual ready to shape its future.
Approximately one year ago, the Cowlards took over what was previously known as Port O’ Call Eco Lodge.
Since then, they have spearheaded an extensive refurbishment project, breathing new life into the entire establishment, including the Coral Bar and Bistro, formerly known as the ‘Port Of Call’ bar.
“We recently remodelled the bar and bistro as we saw the need for a beautiful open space that was crying out to be utilised,” Mr Cowlard said. “We have totally rebuilt the entire bar and restaurant and all of the equipment is brand new.
“Over these three months we have steadily grown the customer base of the Coral Bar and Bistro, but since we’re not experienced restaurant owners, we’ve decided to lease the place to someone who can move the business forward.”

Local hub
During its brief time in operation, the bar and restaurant gained a reputation for successful nights with local entertainment, including ‘The SAX MAN’, local artist Yadho, and Rockin Rick.
“We’ve become a local hub, providing nearby residents the ease of dining and enjoying drinks without travelling far, while also offering our motel guests the convenience of having a bar and restaurant on-site,” Mr Cowlard said.
“Patrons enjoy being able to have a swim and lunch by the pool and enjoy the afternoon sipping cocktails in a relaxed environment where their kids played in the pool for hours.”
Collaboration and success
The Cowlards are eager to collaborate with the incoming tenants to host events that will enhance both the bar and restaurant operations, enriching the overall guest experience.
He also stressed the importance of potential tenants having previous experience to ensure the continued success of the bistro, emphasising the need for consistent food quality and products.
“The lease of the bistro won’t impact the resort; it will only make it better. Nearly every guest who stays here usually visits the bar,” Mr Cowlard said.
