With batteries recharged and spirits soaring, our local students have leaped back into action as term four kicks off.
Wonga Beach State School
As the new term kicked off, students of Wonga Beach State School were in for a real treat with a Water Play afternoon.
This exciting event was a whole school reward, a way to celebrate their exceptional behaviour and the remarkable effort they’ve been pouring into their studies.
According to Principal Emma Tait it was an afternoon of pure, unadulterated fun, creating lasting memories as students, staff, and even parents joined in on the aquatic adventures.
Mossman State High School shines at state Track & Field Championships
Mossman State High School kicked off the term in a sporty way as students showcased exceptional talent at the State Track & Field Championships in Brisbane.
Tracy Butland, the Head of Department for Health, Physical Education & Sport, proudly announced that four students and two staff members represented the Peninsula School Sport region in October, achieving notable results.
“Notable performances included Dallas Shepherdson personal best in the 12-year discus event, Sophie Hamilton’s standout qualification in multiple events, Caitlyn Butland’s remarkable pole vault, and Ezi Masi-Lansana’s impressive sprints,” Ms Butland said.
“A massive congratulations to all of our students and we hope to see these and more students selected in the Peninsula Track & Field team in 2024.”
Miallo’s family fun
The Miallo school community recently hosted a Miallo Family Fun Festival, drawing a fantastic crowd of Douglas families.
The event featured classic games like roll ‘ems, a cent sale, raffle, temporary tattoos, and a delectable spread provided by the P&C and a visiting food van. The ‘Walker Brothers’ delivered lively tunes, while the bar kept adults refreshed.
The P&C extends heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors for making this incredible community event possible. Now, everyone’s left wondering, ‘Can we do it all over again?’.
Planetary connections
This term, the Year 4/5 class is on a captivating journey through the Solar System. Through Google Earth students can discover the precise locations of the planets within our shire. You might be surprised to realise you’ve driven past one of them.
St Augustine’s Primary: A fun-filled morning for future scholars
Last Friday, the halls of St Augustine’s Primary School buzzed with excitement as a group of eager children embarked on an adventure during the ‘Kindy Stay n Play’ morning.
This special event was designed to provide a warm welcome to future Kindergarten students.
Richelle Woods, one of the school’s teachers shared: “The children had so much fun that they simply didn’t want to leave.
“We are excited to welcome new Preps next year and are accepting enrolments in all grades for 2024.”
