Two women in serious condition after late night six person crash near Ellis Beach
ACCIDENT
Two women remain in a serious condition at Cairns Base Hospital and three further people suffered minor injuries and are in a stable condition following a two vehicle accident near Ellis Beach last night.
A Queensland Police spokesperson told Newsport just moments ago one person was initially airlifted by rescue helicopter from the scene just after 9.45pm to Cairns Hospital.
A Queensland Ambulance (QAS) spokesperson told Newsport four other people were transported to hospital in either a serious or stable condition.
A six person, a 20 year-old male declined paramedic or transportation assistance and remained at the scene.
There are conflicting reports however, about the ages of those involved in the accident.
QAS told Newsport a 48 year-old woman (head injuries), a 60 year old male (chest injuries), a 50 year old female (stable), a 19 year-old female (stable), a 25 year old male (stable) and a 20 year old male were each involved in the incident.
A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service Representative (CHHHS) however, provided Newsport with different information and told us that a 49 year-old man (stable), 23 year-old man ( stable), 21 year-old man (stable), 49 year-old woman (serious) and 47 year-old woman (serious) were involved in last night’s accident.
A QPS spokeperson told Newsport the Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene of last night's accident earlier today to begin their initial investigations into the cause of the incident.
