Successful season for volunteer lifesavers on Four Mile beach

Port Douglas Volunteer Lifesavers have had a successful season in keeping beachgoers safe and sound.
This season around 57,323 enjoyed Four Mile Beach making it the busiest beach in North Queensland.
Lifesavers were able to perform 1,440 preventative actions and 88 minor first aids to keep everyone safe.
"We are thrilled with the success of our lifesaving patrol season in Port Douglas," club president Irene Cats told Newsport.
"Our volunteers are dedicated to making sure everyone can enjoy the beach safely, and their hard work is a testament to their commitment to the community."
“We are proud to announce that no major incidents occurred on our watch. The safety of Four Mile Beach can be attributed to natural factors, with the majority of the credit going to the lifesavers' preventative measures.
“From setting up flags to marking a safe swimming area, to roving patrols in the SSV (buggy) and IRB (rescue boat), these are all performed to keep our beachgoers safe.
“The success of the volunteer lifesaver patrol season is a testament to the importance of community involvement in beach safety. We thank all the volunteers for their time and effort in making Port Douglas beaches a safer place for everyone.
“We are always on the lookout out for more volunteers to take the pressure of our Lifesavers. And let’s face it, what better spot to volunteer your time, than Four Mile Beach."
While the volunteer Lifesavers enjoy a well deserved summer break, the beach will remain patrolled by the SLSQ Lifeguard services.
