PAINFUL LESSON: Motorist caught doing 150km/hr near Mount Molloy, fined, gains major demerit points

A 53-year-old Maryborough man has received a painful reminder to follow the speed limit after being pulled over doing 150km/hr in a 100km/hr zone.
Police located the man on the Mulligan Highway near Mount Molloy around 4.30pm a number of days ago and proceeded to pull him over during regular speed enforcement duties.
Police then issued the man a traffic infringement notice for high end speeding of more than 40km/h over the limit which incurred a fine of $1,780, eight demerit points and a six-month high-speed suspension.
Police said at the time of intercept the man “was also required to provide a roadside breath test and it will be alleged he returned an alleged breath alcohol reading of 0.082 per cent BAC”.
The man was later charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor (low-range drink driving) and his licence was disqualified for 24 hours.
