Crocodile involvement not ruled out as Police step up search for missing man in Far North

A search and rescue operation continues for a man who’s been missing since Sunday after failing to return from a fishing trip in the Far North.
The man in his 60s, from Sydney had been visiting friends at the highly popular Bramwell Station and set off around 8am to do a spot of fishing at a favoured location around an hour’s drive away along the Olive River at Shelburne.
Friends became concerned when he failed to return later the same evening.
Since then the rescue helicopter, SES volunteers, local police and others’ searchers located in the Far North have continued to search for the missing man.
Queensland Department of Environment and Science officers (DES) are also helping with search efforts.
Police confirmed they had located the vehicle the man had been driving parked next to a section of the river.
“He's gone to that area to go fishing, he's an avid fisherman ... and there is a familiarity with that area," Senior Sergeant Duane Amos said.
…. "It's certainly something that the search and rescue coordinators will be taking into consideration," he continued, regarding the Olive River being known crocodile habitat.”
