Carnivale may have once again impressed a large amount of festival goers but one man has questioned whether the event remains ‘iconic’ and worthy of its popular, lofty reputation.

Suggesting the festival was feeling ‘tired’ or losing its lustre, the local, who said he’s attended no less than 25 Carnivale’s over the years claimed there was joint sentiment this year’s event was below par.

“There seems to be a unanimous vote that this year’s Carnivale is lacking,” Don Wright posted.

“Not many people even made the effort based purely on the last few years’ effort.

“Such a shame the ball has been dropped again.”

In response to Don’s comments others’ were adamant this year’s event was as good as past versions.

However, when questioned, Mr Wright doubled down on his viewpoint.

“I have been involved in many aspects of (previous) Carnivals,” he said.

“Probably more then most people. The general discussion amongst long term locals that I know all agreed if you compare the last few years with previous years…

“Then, there’s a huge difference.”

Another local, though, couldn’t have been happier with this year’s Carnivale.

“Were you at the parade last night?,” Rita Merrick asked.

“It was wonderful; a couple of dozen floats, the streets (were) packed with people three or four deep, sparkling lights, fun laughter, music, exciting vibes, what a night!”
