Port Douglas junior product selected in Queensland cricket team

Ex-Muddies player Targa Jenkins was selected in the Queensland under-12 schoolgirls cricket team in Bundaberg last week.
The 11-year old all-rounder had an excellent tournament batting in the number three position and opening the bowling for the Met East team.
Jenkins heads to Darwin with the Queensland team on June 2 for her first game against New South Wales.
Jenkins played her junior cricket with the Muddies in teams coached by local teachers Doug Barnes and Hiromi Wall.
“Hiromi and Doug really inspired my passion for cricket, they always made training and games a lot of fun," the young cricketer told Newsport.
Jenkins moved to Brisbane in January on a sports scholarship for cricket and cross-country running.
"I enjoy cricket more than running because it is more social and the training is easier," she joked.
Currently in year six she is hoping to be selected to attend Brisbane High next year.
