A Port Douglas mother and daughter who, together, possess an unwavering commitment to source and sell authentic Australian only made and crafted products have received a timely accolade and acknowledgement at the recent Australian owned business awards.
A short time ago ‘Maker’ a beautiful shop owned and operated by Raine and Donna Ward based in Warner St, Port Douglas, claimed the ‘best emerging business award’.
“We’re just over the moon to win this award,” a humble Raine told Newsport earlier this morning.
“It’s amazing for such a small business in Far North Queensland to be recognised on such a large scale.
“We’re absolutely honoured to receive this award and very grateful.”
This prestigious and highly sought after gong recognises newly established businesses like ‘Maker’ that have demonstrated an ongoing charter of choosing only local supplies, sourcing local ingredients and stocking items that have been made in Australia or are Australian owned.
It’s that focus that has seen ‘Maker’ go on to support more than 130 small businesses right across the country since doors opened in July 2020.
In fact, Maker supports the hand-made talents of local Australian artisans and designers by showcasing and selling items such as, but not limited to, jewellery accessories, art work, kids items, candles and incense, beach and picnic stuff and books.
Their amazing shop also hosts regular creative workshops and events.
