Musical trailblazers unite at brand new Carnivale event

Get ready to groove to a new beat at Port Douglas Carnivale with Port Douglas Music Trails; an event showcasing local and touring singer-songwriters.
Cast in a mini-festival format, Port Douglas Music Trails will feature musicians from the region and beyond while sharing their background and inspiration with the audience.
Running over three consecutive nights the event will give Carnivale-goers a chance to discover the amazing musical talent present in the Far North.
The music trail is the brainchild of Marty Brown, owner of Chopperdog Productions Port Douglas.
Mr Brown told Newsport that he's had the idea for the Music Trails for a while, driven by his passion to put the region on the tour map for musicians from interstate and overseas.
“The issue is the distance is too far for musicians to travel unless they can book multiple shows, resulting in missed opportunities to see great talent,” he explained.
“If we can entice them up here as a collective we have a much better chance of them visiting the region.”
Showcasing original music
According to Mr Brown, each artist performing during the three-day event, including Cinnamon Sun, Tim Woodz, Stuie Harcourt, and Tessa Devine, has a slightly different genre, so there should be a little bit of something for everyone.
“The shows are for people who are interested in original music and how the songs came about,” Mr Brown explained. “It's also a chance to hear a bit of background about the artist which is something that often only happens at festivals as well.
“The slots are set for two hours, consisting of a one-hour set, an intermission, and a 45-minute set. On Saturday, people can easily wander from one show to the next as all venues are within walking distance of each other.”
Mr Brown added that he is using this event as a trial run for a larger annual winter festival in Port Douglas, showcasing some of the best musicians Australia has to offer. Watch this space…
