Man nabbed, will face court after alleged car theft in MossmanShare

A 23-year-old man will face Cairns Magistrates Court in the coming weeks after being nabbed on Lake St, Cairns trying to run from cops after being linked to an alleged house break in and subsequent unpaid fuel drive off.

Police allege the Wujal Wujal man broke into a Hart St residence in Mossman last Sunday and stole a Toyota Camry.

 Around 10.30pm the same night the man was involved in a fuel drive off after being identified on CCTV images.

Cairns Highway Patrol were conducting patrols around 11pm last night regarding a different matter when they encountered the 23-year-old.

Police said he was arrested a short time later after checks revealed he was wanted for questioning.

Police confirmed the man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

He was bailed and is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on May 29.
