BRING LIFE BACK TO DAINTREE VILLAGE – a woman’s heartfelt plea to food van owners

A Daintree Village local has implored locally based food van owners to consider running their businesses from the area during weeknights or over weekends amidst the ongoing closure of the iconic Daintree Village Hotel.
Newsport first revealed more than a month ago the Village’s main watering hole and gathering point would close on March 24 because of the venue’s former manager and chef moving on and finding new jobs.
Since then, locals and tourists haven’t had a central location to join together, eat and simply hang out as a community.
As such a determined town member has thrown the call out for that to change.
“Just putting it out there to all the food van (owners),” Kathleen Smith said.
“Daintree Village needs food for night-time meals and to add an atmosphere for locals and tourists to get together.
“The big corporate person that owns the Daintree Hotel has closed the doors (staff shortage).
“We need to keep Daintree Village alive.
“Anyone with a pop-up food van this is your opportunity. Not sure what rules apply but (lets) find out.
“Let’s bring life back into the Daintree Village.”
