Wandering, lost dog captures minds and hearts of Douglas Shire residents

The bid to capture a lost and lonely hound that has captured the hearts and imaginations of locals continues this afternoon.
Just days ago video footage showed the dog wandering along Pretty beach between Oak beach and Turtle Cove while still photos have shown it continually staring at the ocean. Another image showed the dog hiding in bushes.
It’s unclear who the owner is, or how the dog arrived at the beach.
In recent days kind local residents, such as Jessie Goetze, in conjunction with Douglas Shire Council has helped to ensure the situation, hopefully, has a happy outcome.
“The update is that we’ve set a humane trap for the pretty beach dog,” Ms Goetze explained on social media.
“At this stage of the effort to secure him we would like to request that people don’t go to the beach to look for him or leave food.
“We have food in the trap and our hopes are that he is forced to go in there for hunger.
“Leaving food will make it less likely for him to get it from the trap area. The more activity there is down there the more he hides and potentially will leave the area.
“This will make his capture and reuniting/rehoming less likely and maybe even impossible.
“At this time it is imperative that food is not left and to have the least activity/people as possible down there.”
