Living your best life in paradise. That is what this year’s Port Douglas Carnivale Street Parade will be all about.

It’s no secret people choose to be in our Far Northern paradise, to live their best life – it is what the Douglas lifestyle is all about.

Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said he was excited to see what community groups and businesses would do with this year’s theme.

“There is so much scope for creative design and costuming to fit this theme. I encourage participants to let their imaginations run wild and create something that truly resembles what their best life looks like to them.”

Registrations are now open for floats and walkers to take part in the popular community event on Friday, May 19, presented in partnership with the Property Shop Port Douglas & Mossman.

Vying for a prize pool of $4550, categories include Best Overall Float of $2000, Best Business Float of $1000, Best Community Float of $1000, Best Youth Entry (under 16) of $350 and Best Individual (solo act) of $200.

The parade will kick off at 6.30pm followed by the fireworks display in Anzac Park at 8pm. You can register here.

Longest Lunch

The Longest Lunch will also return to its original home from nearly 30 years ago; the boardwalk of the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina.

Following the success of 2022, the event will also be an important fundraiser for FNQ Hospital Foundation’s Mossman Hospital with organisers hoping to surpass last year’s result of more than $70,000 raised

There will be an auction during the event with exclusive hampers and experiences on offer. A portion of each ticket sale will also be donated directly back to the charity.
