Nana Marg - a beacon of support
MEMORIAL

Affectionately known by local families as Nana Marg, Port Douglas local Margaret Legg provided love, warmth, care and emotional support to hundreds of vulnerable first-time parents. She will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ms Legg was the founder of the Port Douglas Community Service Network’s New Parents Group and for well over a decade she was an extremely dedicated volunteer.
The group was formed 15 years ago to welcome New Parents into our community and give them a safe, comfortable space to socialise, relax, make new friends and receive support and still runs every Thursday at the Family Support Hub in Mowbray St, Port Douglas.
Nana Marg loved each visiting family like a member of her own and doted over every new baby like they were her own grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service this coming Monday 20th at 1.30pm at Saint Mary’s by the sea in Port Douglas.
The Port Douglas Community Service Network’s child and Parent Support Program will be arranging a walk in Nana Marg’s memory from the Family Support Hub (beside the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre) to the memorial service, and would like to invite all families who have been part of the New Parents Group over the past 15 years to join.
If you would like to participate in the walk please meet at the front of the Family Support Hub on Monday 20th March at 12.30pm for a 12.45pm start, everybody is welcome.
If anyone wishes to leave tributes about how Nana Marg made a positive impact on their life through New Parents Group or a happy memory of your time with her no matter how long ago, please email to Erin by 5.00pm Saturday 18th March: caps@pdnc.org.au
