Karaoke just the tonic as Mossman, Douglas Shire unites for a boogie and sing-a-long
ROCKIN' RICK

A local bowls club in the Douglas Shire isn’t the place you’d expect to see pulsating with action on your average Friday or Saturday night but that’s exactly where locals continue to flock once a month to enjoy a rockin’ good time.
The secret recipe? – karaoke. Yes, karaoke, it seems our Shire has a lot of keen vocalists who are not shy in getting up to have a sing and a boogie when Rockin’ Rick brings his tunes to the club.
What started as a once off, is now indeed a once a month not to miss night of entertainment in which locals can go to Mossman Bowls club, have a drink, grab the mic and simply turn back the clock by singing such hits as “Loveshack” and other nostalgic songs.
Just weeks ago during the latest instalment the club was buzzing – the great thing about it? – people of all ages were in attendance to simply enjoy themselves and blow off some weekend steam.
“It was really wonderful to see so many people attend the karaoke night at Mossman Bowls Club just a few days ago,” Rockin’ Rick told Newsport.
“It kind of started by simply approaching the club to see if they would be interested in having the karaoke there, so we gave it a try about four months ago and it proved popular.
“So now we’re locked in to one karaoke evening a month at Mossman bowls club.
“I just love how it brings the community together, in a happy and fun way.”
Rockin’ Rick is no stranger to local audiences, he has regularly hosted karaoke evenings at Plantation Port Douglas and in Palm Cove for many years.
