Man who used tomahawk style axe to smash way into Port Douglas business, captured, will face court

A man has been charged with a raft of offences after he allegedly used a tomahawk to commit a robbery at a Macrossan St business in Port Douglas just a short time ago.
Police said the 34-year-old Goondi Hill man in company with two other persons used a “tomahawk-style axe” to gain entry to the business 72 hours ago.
The trio allegedly stole cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot.
The Goondi Hill man was captured in Mooroobool last night and was later charged with one count each enter premise and commit indictable offence, obstruct police, possession of a knife in a public place and riding at night or period of reduced visibility – front flashing or steady white light.
He will face Cairns Magistrates Court on June 28.
It’s unclear if the other two persons face any charges following the incident.
