Silkari Hotels expands presence with second resort in Port Douglas

SILKARI RESORT’S EXPANSION
Silkari Hotels has announced its latest venture in the tourism scene of Port Douglas with the opening of their second resort in the area.
Following the success of Silkari Lagoons Port Douglas, which they have been managing since December 2019, Silkari Hotels has now taken charge of the operation of the newly rebranded "Silkari The Pavilions Port Douglas" in May 2023.
Located at 35 Macrossan Street, Silkari The Pavilions Port Douglas offers guests a combination of self-catered hotel rooms and apartments. This boutique-style resort, nestled in the heart of Port Douglas, offers a serene retreat for visitors seeking relaxation and comfort.
The resort's main attractions include a heated or cooled lap pool and spa, accommodating to the desires of those looking to unwind in style.
A spokesperson at Silkari Hotels said that with this expansion, Silkari Hotels aims to enhance the hospitality offerings in Port Douglas. “We want to further enrich the experience of visitors to our tropical paradise,” he said.
SHERATON GRAND MIRAGE REVITALISES LAGOON POOLS
As sustainability remains an important priority within the Port Douglas' tourist scene, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas has embarked on an ambitious pool restoration project.
General Manager at the resort, Steve Molnar, said that they have recently completed the restoration of two of the resort's largest lagoon pools, which involves the installation of an eco-friendly pool surface lining with a life expectancy of 15-20 years. The Resort is also currently upgrading all pool filtration systems with the latest technology.
“With this innovative management of the pools, we have eliminated the need for emptying and repainting the pools every three years,” Mr Molnar explained. “This combined with the new pool filtration system not only saves us time and resources but also significantly reduces water loss, chemical usage and energy consumption.”
With a commitment to sustainability that started over 35 years ago, the resort has a smart approach to water conservation.
“The resort’s 9 lagoon pools, spanning over 2 hectares with a total volume of 20 million litres, are filled with saltwater harvested from the ocean during high tide. This sustainability initiative further reduces the need to use fresh town water when topping up the resort pools.”
