As the calendar turns another page, the Mossman community is gearing up for the 71st edition of the Mossman Show, set to unfold on 23 and 24 July.

Following the success of last year's 70th celebration, preparations are already in full swing to make this year's event another memorable one.

Director Matthew Hattfield expressed his pride in the local agriculture show, stating, “We are in full swing preparing for what looks like a full-on show”.

Show highlights

Mr Hattfield said he is pleased to welcome ranger Nick and his campfire cooking show, as well as Showtime FMX and their freestyle moto x show, as some of the major highlights of the event.

“And, of course, the crowd favourites like Melville's delightful animal farm, the educational RESTA reptile information show, and the pig racing will be back to make this year's show unforgettable,” Mr Hattfield said

“We also have a great line up in the food court and then there are the all-important show rides.”

When asked about his personal favourites, Mr Hattfield shared he looks forward to the poultry and fat cattle displays, as well as exploring all the pavilions at the show.

“Just remember to look out for the wood chops, dog jumping and school band, and we also have a live band playing Sunday evening.

“Plus, we've got a live band performing on Sunday evening for some fantastic entertainment.

“And, as a testament to their popularity, the equestrian events are steadily growing in support and attendance.”

For those interested in entering the dog jumping, horticulture, cooking, or arts and crafts competitions, contact the show office at 40981477 or reach out on the event's Facebook page. Make sure to submit your entries before Wednesday 19 July at 4.00pm.
