National pride is on the line with two Port Douglas businesses donning the gloves and going head to head over the FIFA Women’s World Cup and in the process helping a great cause.
The Irish craic of Café Fresq will seek bragging rights over the 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie' of a local real estate business when Ireland meets Australia in tonight's women's World Cup opener at Stadium Australia.
With neither party prepared to concede defeat prior to this evening's battle the only thing left to do was lay a wager with the losing party to make a $500 donation to Cystic Fibrosis Australia.
“We're really appreciative of this donation,” Joanie, from Café Fresq, said.
“Looks like the girls will need to pump out a few extra coffees come Friday morning,” a spokesperson from a local real estate office joked.
Cystic Fibrosis is a recessive genetic condition that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Financial support helps fund research and advocacy and improve clinical and patient programs.
