102 year-old local still feels vigorous and fresh

That age doesn’t matter proves when looking into the sparkling eyes of Noela, who herself, still feels 85 years younger than her actual age.
The beloved Kewarra Aged Care resident turned 102 recently and this significant milestone was yet another opportunity for Kewarra’s residents and staff to celebrate this wonderful lady.
Lifestyle Coordinator at Kewarra, Nicky Mifsud, said that Noela is one in a million.
“With a cheeky and fun-loving nature, Noela attends all of the activities in the home and is a great fan of music,” Ms Mifsud said.
“She is a delight to be around and our weekly manicure date brings loads of laughter with tears running down our faces.”
When asked how she felt about turning 102, Noela said, “Really, am I 102? Don’t tell anyone, but I feel 17 years old!”.

Senior hero Sue Pudney makes a difference
Speaking of milestones, senior Sue Pudney can easily be called a ‘local hero’ as she has been volunteering at the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre for a whopping 19 years.
Sue decided she wanted to give back to the community she loves and now greets everyone with a smile at the Nik Nak Shed op shop.
As Sue loves a good old chinwag, it’s no wonder that her shift on Monday is always busy with many people coming in to see what’s new after the weekend.
“I love the social aspect of working in the shop as I get to meet many interesting people,” she said.
Not only does Sue brighten everyone’s day, with her work at the Nik Nak she also makes a difference as the raised funds directly benefit the most vulnerable members of our community.
