New image adds weight to Douglas Shire 'big cat' theory

A local resident has come forward suggesting he may have inadvertently captured a rare night time image of the mysterious big cat that purportedly roams the surrounding rainforests of the Douglas shire.
The trail cam photo taken on December 11 last year around 8.15pm in the vicinity of South Mossman near an industrial area shows an unidentified cat-like object in the left hand side of the image.
The property owner said “the trail camera was set up because we were having a dingo problem with our goats”.
The unverified image comes a day after Newsport ran a story yesterday about a recent, unconfirmed sighting of a ‘big cat’ in the Shire over the past few weeks.
Separate to that, long time resident Rosie Wang reported a sighting of what she claims resembled a large cat like creature while driving home to Port Douglas from Cairns, at night, along the Captain Cook highway in 2018.
Another Newsport reader as early as this morning left a message on our Facebook page saying she “saw something a few years ago (unidentifiable roadside creature) near Wangetti on the side of the road near the start of the overtaking lanes heading towards Cairns – at night".
