More heavy rain, roads flooded in Douglas

Heavy wet season rain has again caused landslips, flooded bridges and water over roads in Douglas, as a monsoonal trough moves slowly in the region.
Clean up crews headed to Cape Tribulation this morning to clear a landslip which forced the closure of Cape Tribulation Road.
At Wonga Beach and its nearby streets, several residents reported between 250 to 300 millimetres of rainfall in 24 hours.
“Avoid driving down Marlin Drive please you push water into peoples properties if you want to have a look walk - 272ml 24 hours,” one post read.
The Bureau of Meteorology said severe thunderstorms have produced heavy rainfall that may still lead to further flash flooding in Douglas Shire for most of the remainder of today.
Areas which may be affected include Port Douglas, Mossman, Daintree Village and Julatten.
A moderate flood warning is current for the Mossman and Daintree rivers.
Motorists have also been reminded that The Daintree Ferry services can be closed during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding, and have been asked to check the Daintree Ferry website or Facebook page for service updates before travelling.
Council has closed the following roads:
Cape Tribulation Rd, Cape Tribulation - Hazard - Avoid the area
Mossman Daintree Rd, Daintree - Flooding - Do not drive in flood waters
Finlayvale Rd, Finlayvale - Flooding - Do not drive in flood waters
Shannonvale Rd, Shannonvale - Flooding - Do not drive in flood waters
The BoM is forecasting that the rain will start to ease from Monday and continue to dissipate over coming days to sunnier weather later in the week.
