A Douglas woman who alerted the community to the story of three missing ducks from Mossman still hasn’t been able to confirm if someone has taken them to a new home.

Sandra Failla alerted social media users about the plight of the ducks at Foxton Avenue Reserve earlier this month, and she told Newsport she has since “been down there swimming and talking to as many people as possible,” she said.  

At the time the Newell Beach resident took on feeding them twice a day with cooked brown rice and vegetables, while at the same time planning to find them a new home.

Since our story that the birds had gone missing, Sandra has heard from a source that a property owner who has heavy machinery at Wonga had expressed strong interest in taking in the ducks and was willing to dig out a dam for them.

But she hasn’t been able to confirm if that same person did actually take the birds there, and remains concerned for their whereabouts.

“It’s really sad, everyone is really missing them. It’s not the same down there anymore,” she said.

“Apart from Paul (who told her about the property owner’s interest), no one has any idea and are disappointed they've disappeared.” 

Sandra would still like to hear what has become of the ducks and if they have indeed been able to find a new home, and has urged anyone who might know to somehow get the message across to the community that they’re okay.

The three white ducks, which she affectionately named Pippo, Paddle and Pop, were last spotted at the riverbank in the Foxton Reserve on or about August 10.
