LEGEND: 'Coxy' bids farewell to Salsa Bar & Grill after 14 years of service

Port Douglas witnessed a heartfelt farewell as Brian Cox, affectionately known as 'Coxy,' finished his 14-year journey with the Salsa Bar & Grill team.
For more than a decade, Coxy's day began at the crack of dawn, as he ensured that the restaurant was spot clean and ready for the day ahead.
Salsa owner Rhys Bawden said Coxy’s loyalty will be sorely missed by the team.
“Our team is like a family and Coxy was a big part of it,” Mr Bawden said.
“What stands out about Coxy is that Salsa was always his priority. Over 14 years, he barely took a few days off, and even then, it was due to injury, showcasing his dedication during tough times.
“He will be missed immensely, he is a part of Salsa and always will be.”
Reflecting on his time at Salsa, Coxy shared, “Over the years I have made friends for life and the early morning conversations we shared was such a good way to start my day”.
“Seeing the world wake up and working in one of the most spectacular spots was just the best.
"I remember one morning after a wedding at Salsa. I walked in to clean and found the jukebox all set up and I couldn't resist trying it out.
“So there I was at 4.00am, when suddenly Bill, one of the owners, yelled my name, telling me to turn it off. Needless to say, he wasn't too pleased for a while.
As he bids farewell, Coxy looks forward to a new chapter in life.
“I've recently become a grandfather for the first time, so I'll be spending more time visiting my little granddaughter down south,” he shared.
