By late next month it's expected local mountain bikers, cyclists and casual riding enthusiasts alike will finally have a local trail to call their own in the Douglas Shire.

When construction on the much awaited and anticipated mountain bike skills park at Port Douglas sports precinct wraps up in around four to six weeks’ time the track will then usher in and be available to just about anyone on the back of a bike to enjoy.

It will offer a range of jump lines, tabletops, timber obstacles and other cool features.

The current construction of the trail has been 10 years in the making and has only become a reality thanks to financial support through grants, private contributions and fundraising initiatives.
