Iconic Port Douglas Carnivale ready to deliver another memorable festival next month

A combination of riveting entertainment, mouth-watering food offerings and unforgettable music acts all on the doorstep of one Australia’s most stunning locations will make Carnivale once again a not to be missed event next month.
This year’s program will kick off with the opening of the Wonderland Spiegeltent on May 12 and build towards the main event weekend from May 19-21.
This year’s main attractions will include The Longest Lunch, hosted by the Local Collective, the Port Douglas and Mossman Street Parade on Friday, May 19, FNQ Gin Fest, and Tropic Rock headliners, YOU AM I.
The all-inclusive beach day will take place on May 20 and Sunday will see the event wrap up with the seafood extravaganza.
New events include in ‘23 include Tropical Neon Nights with DJ SGT Slick and the Port Douglas Music Trails, featuring singer-songwriters at iconic Port Douglas venues.
“The program is fresh and fun and offers great depth of things to do across community, culinary, live music, theatre, arts and culture, entertainment and sport,” Douglas Shire mayor Michael Kerr remarked.
“Now in its 29th year, the 10 days of Carnivale sees the region come to life in a celebration that engages locals and attracts visitors from across the country.”
In addition, event organisers noted the Wonderland Spiegeltent will also bring its fun mix of burlesque, cabaret, music, dance and comedy during its 10-day run throughout the festival.
Mayor Kerr reminded interested participants that float registrations remain open for the annual street parade and encouraged local businesses and community groups to enter.
