Hundreds of residents united this morning to pay their respects and honour the fallen at ANZAC Day services across the Shire.

A large crowd gathered at the Mossman Cenotaph for the dawn service from 5.15am.

In Port Douglas, the Douglas Shire community again joined together to witness the annual march towards the cenotaph just after 10am.

This year marked the 108th anniversary of the Anzacs' Gallipoli landing, and also, significantly, the first time in two years’ COVID social distancing restrictions didn’t play a role in ANZAC Day proceedings.

At Cow Bay the community met at My Pathways car park at 4:35am for a march to the local Cenotaph in which things got underway at 5:00am.

Meantime, in Cairns the annual dawn service started at 5.30am at the Cenotaph on the Cairns Esplanade.

The popular Services Parade started at 7:30am at Fogarty Park, before it made its way to the Esplanade past the RSL.

At Trinity Beach, a strong number of community members attended a service from 5.30am.
