Tourism Port Douglas Daintree restarts important visitor surveys

If you have a friendly personality, like to chat, and can spare a few hours a week – then Tourism Port Douglas Daintree would like to hear from you.

The area’s key destination marketing office is bringing back visitor surveys, an important business activity it used to engage in regularly before COVID.

This time TPDD is doing a host of visitor surveys in conjunction with Central Queensland University and Douglas Shire Council, allowing them to explore visitors’ profiles, travel behaviour and satisfaction levels.

Information gained from the 250 planned surveys per quarter will help the office identify demographics better and understand the area’s visitors and their travel experiences.

“Who they are, where they come from, what motivates people to come to the area, what they do when they’re here and their level of satisfaction,” executive officer, Tara Bennett said.

The visitor surveying will be the first in two-and-a-half years. TPDD hopes the information they gain in the process will provide valuable insights, including into visitors’ budgets and motivation, about the competitive destination tourism market.

“It’s going to provide us with some great information that not only do we use, but we actually provide it quite frequently to people looking to invest in the region. We provide it to our members so that they can incorporate it into their planning as well.”

Ideally, TPDD needs a couple – or two individuals would be fine – from the local area to help them conduct the surveys. Successful recruits will be paid per survey.

“We really enjoy doing it ourselves. We just don’t have the time to get out of the office to get as many done as we’d like.”

Anyone interested in conducting the surveys has been asked to please contact Mikala on 07 4099 4588 or email: info@tourismportdouglasdaintree.com
