A unique style of property fit for raising a future Baggy Green product or emerging football star is back on the market and set to go under the hammer early next month.

The “Sports house” as it is known is located at Killaloe, 6864 Captain Cook Highway and features cricket nets, a 14m magnesium pool, covered entertaining deck, outdoor bar, a large, grassed playing area and other cool inclusions.

The iconic house in the Douglas Shire was designed by two local architects who visualised the Cat Stevens song ‘Where do the children play?’ when they were thinking of the ideal end product.

“After many years living in London I came to Port Douglas and jumped at the opportunity to design a ‘big backyard on an acre’”, Co-owner Targa Jenkins said.

“The spatial goal was to encourage the kids onto the back deck and to play outside which means less screen time in bedrooms.

“An upside was our kids became very proficient at sports with many of them performing very well at a state and national level in sports including cricket, soccer, cross country and triathlon.

“Sadly, that is why we are moving south because a couple of our kids have been offered sports scholarships in Brisbane and Melbourne.”

The auction for the property will take place at Hemingway’s, Port Douglas, on October 4 from 5pm.
