Three local residents with a heart of gold will each aim to walk 63km before the end of the month to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research and to honour dear friend Alice Gray who recently passed away because of the horrible disease.

“Team Alice”, consisting of trio Wendy Wall, Julie Scott and Lisa Watt have signed up to be a part of Remember September – a national campaign aimed to raise monies to fund lifesaving pancreatic cancer research and to improve survival rates.

The 63km figure is comparative to the number of Australians who die each week from pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the third biggest killer of Australians.

“For those who knew Alice she was full of life,” Ms Wall remarked.

“She was a regular stall holder at Mossman Market and was only walking along Wonga Beach only months before she left us.”
