The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas is in line to claim some prestigious gongs at an upcoming awards function.

The resort has been named as a finalist in the best upper-upscale resort, best regional and best meeting and events location categories at the hotel management awards gala at Sydney’s Town Hall on November 25.

Steve Molnar is also up for best Australian general manager.

This year there was a record 1500 entries, with finalists confirmed in 42 separate categories.

The HM awards recognise excellence in the industry and covers employee achievements, to departments, to properties and chains.

“From the best concierges to boutique hotels, chefs and regional properties, the HM Awards once again has seen submissions from some incredible properties and people from right across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific,” HM founder and chief judge James Wilkinson said.

“It has again been a challenging year and I’m proud the HM Awards will be able to recognise the best people, departments and properties this part of the world has to offer.”
