Local man to channel inner Forrest Gump in crusade to increase awareness

RUNNING FOR A CAUSE

A local man driven to spark increased conversation and raise awareness about men’s men health issues will put the running shoes on and channel his inner Forrest Gump during a lengthy, non stop run around Brisbane’s New Farm Park.
Dubbed ‘The Long Run’ Rory McHugh will aim to run 180km without stopping on November 12, for the purpose of increasing awareness around suicide prevention and men’s mental health.
McHugh, a former Crocs, Sharks and Raiders player has plans to start the mission at 10pm and will aim to complete 200 laps, which would see him finish approximately 5pm the following afternoon.
“It’s important to the people around you, it can make all the difference.”
McHugh is no stranger to such ambitious adventures, last year, throughout November, he completed a marathon every day of the month, which equated to him running a total of 1266km.
McHugh’s mantra is to tell your mates you love them and to speak up.
Good luck Rory!
