Join this local free event and you will become an ‘online expert’ in no-time

Get Online Week
“Under the guidance of two lovely ladies; Jill from What’s On in Port and Tracey from Cairns Community Legal Centre, people will be learning how to effectively use social media like Facebook and Instagram.
“They will also learn how to use Marketplace when buying and selling products, how to send a private message and how you can change your posts to public settings.
“And more importantly, they will learn about personal security and how to stay safe online, about scammers and what to be aware of.
“We will be playing scam bingo and there will be some fantastic prizes up for grabs. All this and a beautiful lunch catered by Mocka's Pies.”
Closing the digital divide
Get Online Week is a campaign aiming to close the digital divide.
According to the website of Get Online Week, 1 in 4 Australians are digitally excluded and less than 40 percent of the people are confident they can keep up with technology.
For people more at risk of digital exclusion, such as older people, people with disability, low income families and First Nations people, this rate is even higher.
Get Online Week sees hundreds of local events take place each year hosted by community organisations.
It gives people the chance to find the support they need to improve their digital skills and get motivated to learn more.
If you think you would benefit from this training at the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre please drop into or call 40995518 to book your seat. This is a free event with space for a maximum number of 20 people.
